Metagalactic Llamas Battle at the Edge of Time
Comments by Jeff Minter:
Metagalactic Llamas Battle at the Edge of Time is without doubt the silliest
name for a game to come out of Llamasoft. The name occurred to me whilst I was walking along a beach in the South of
France thinking, 'what's the silliest thing I could call a game?'. The actual game occurred to me whilst I was sitting on a bus
in Portugal, so it's quite a cosmopolitan game, especially as it features a South American ruminant.
The gameplay is quite simple but original - the llama spits at a 45 degree angle upwards to the left and right, depending on
which way the animal is facing. Spit bounces off the screen edges and off a forcefield, the altitude of which the player can
control. This allows expectoration to be directed towards spiders which descend from the top of the screen and which, if
allowed to reach the floor, turn into weevils (biologically unlikely I know, but hey) which attack the llama.
